You are looking for the ultimate summit experience without an effort? With the “Sulzenschneid” we have a great hike for you and also your children.
On this hike, the car takes care of the greatest altitude. You drive with the car on the Hofalm street to the “Sulzenalm/Wallehenhütte” on an altitude of 1.625 meter.
As soon as you step out of the car, the great view of the imposing Bischofsmütze is overwhelming. The landscape around the “Wallehenhütte” with green meadows, beautiful larch forests, a small steam and the ringing of the cow bells let you forget the everyday life.
After a deep breath, it is time to lace up your hiking boots, look up and start the hike. The path goes on cow pastures along up to the forest. The larch forest become shrubby mountain pine forest. The path goes through mountain pines up to the “Sulzenhals”, a plateau between the “Sulzenschneid” and the red colored “Rötelstein”. Now we are on the road for about 30-40 minutes. Time for the first break – time to take a look at the Dachstein massif with its mighty south walls for the first time.
Now we still have about 30 minutes to hike. The first path goes through mountain pine forests. Then the forests thin out and the massive walls of the Torstein appear. Soon you will see the summit cross. You can already guess what a wonderful panorama awaits you.
Arrived at an altitude of 1990 meter with a 360° panorama.
In the north the "Hochkesselkopf", to the west the Dachstein massif, in the south the view of the "Rötelstein" and even further to the "Hochkönig" and in the east the Filzmoos local mountain - the Bischofsmütze. Take a deep breath of fresh mountain air. The mountains are rarely so near. At least now you will understand what makes the mountain so attractive, why we are alqays drawn to the heights ...
At some point it is time to leave the summit behind - we will take the same path back. And if you like, you can take a break by one of the rustic huts. I recommend the Kaiserschmarrn at the "Wallehenhütte" and the meat donuts at the "Krahlehenhütte", which is even further down.
I wish you a beautiful hiking tour.
