This romantic town is located at 1,057 metres above sea level at the foot of Bischofsmütze and Dachstein mountains. This makes Filzmoos an ideal starting point for many activities in summer and winter.
The Salzburg Sports World
The Salzburg Sports World is an association of 7 towns which offer the perfect starting point for your active holiday in Austria. In summer, this offers more than 1,000 km of hiking trails, 500 km of cycling and mountain biking trails and 21 E-bike routes. Both adults and children have plenty of variety whether it’s bathing in clear swimming lakes, golfing or horse riding.
In winter, the activities are equally varied with 356 fantastic ski slopes, a total of 760 km of slopes, more than 200 rustic ski huts for skiers in Ski amadé, toboggan runs, snowshoe hikes, ski tours and much more.

Balloon Weeks in Filzmoos
Night of balloons, balloon competitions, celebrations and much more.
The balloon weeks every year in January are unique in Austria and really worth seeing. Colourful hot air balloons adorn the winter sky. Every day, approx. 50 balloon teams start in Filzmoos and fly over the Gosaukamm and Dachstein mountains. On the Night of the Balloons, the whole town celebrates while the balloons dance to the music. Come and meet our holiday paradise at balloon time.
Idyllic Advent and Christmas

In December, our small mountain village exudes the most charm. The town is festively decorated for the Advent and Christmas season. Enjoy a winter break and visit the small Christmas market at the church, the Christmas idyll in the Hofalmen or experience a romantic horse-drawn sleigh ride to the Hofalm.
