December is a wonderful time. Silence, tranquillity and sparkling children's eyes!
Advent and Christmas
In The Neubergerhof, the Advent and the Christmas season are celebrated very traditionally and consciously. Discover here why the last month of the year has always been a special time for the Reiter family and what customs are celebrated here in Filzmoos.
It is important to us that our guests also experience this unique atmosphere and enjoy the often fast Advent and Christmas season in The Neubergerhof.
We Reiter children think happily back to old times but still look forward to the Advent season. But why is this so? Not only because Christmas is just around the corner and the smallest Reiter children are already looking forward to the Baby Jesus. But also because the hotel is still closed for the first two weeks of December. Thus, we can enjoy the time around the Advent wreath, bake with Mama Maria the best biscuits in the world and watch the first snowflakes slowly wrap our nature in a white cover.
A wonderful time for us...
Dear guests, please do not misunderstand us, but the Advent time was so special for us children, because mum and dad had a lot of time for us. That is still the case now. A special highlight is the evening of the 5th December.
St. Nicholas goes from house to house with his Krampus to visit the families. While St. Nicholas gives the children gifts such as mandarins, nuts and chocolate, the Krampus has the function of terrifying naughty children. Although many are afraid of the Krampus, it is a beautiful tradition, which is also very important in The Neubergerhof. Thus, the Reiter family is visited every year by St. Nicholas and his companions and given the good gifts. Here, Maria provides the food and drink. And after St. Nicholas and his Krampus have left us again, the children unpack their sacks and the big ones enjoy the cosy evening.
The Christmas idyll in the Filzmoos Hofalmen
A circular trail, delicately illuminated with torches, leads you across snow-covered Alpine pastures from the Unterhof and Oberhofalm up to the Almsee. A life-size crib, silhouette, mulled wine, Punsch, Weisenbläser (brass band), Perchten (devils) and other surprises await you. You can reach the Hofalmen by horse-drawn sleigh or on foot.
Christmas Eve program in The Neubergerhof
Every year, all rooms are atmospherically decorated and designed with a lot of love. The large Christmas tree in the lobby is also decorated by our guests. On 24.12.2020, the program starts around 17:00.
The fire crackles in the fireplace, the Reiters, the staff and our guests, dress up in their most beautiful clothes. With a glass of sparkling wine we toast and welcome Santa Claus, who comes to The Neubergerhof every year. At a family Christmas party, Christmas stories are told, gifts are handed out and “Silent Night, Holy Night” is sung together. We then invite you to a Christmas Eve aperitif before the Christmas Eve festive menu begins.
Celebrate New Year's Eve
The end of the year is an exciting part of December, as also on 31.12.2020 we have prepared a lot for our guests. Together we dine at the gala dinner, dance to the music until midnight when the traditional bells of the “Wiener Pummerin” are heard and we then dance in the New Year hand in hand to the sounds of the Danube Waltz.
